SUMMARY
The Learned Ladies, by Moliere. A wacky family sorts out its marriage plans for its two daughters, the topsy-turvy relationships of mom, dad, and in-laws, and the real value and meaning of "learning." Featuring pompous poets, saucy servants, amorous aunts, romantic-cowardly-bossy-nutty relatives of all kinds, and told with hilarious slapstick and rollicking rhyming verse.

The Forced Marriage, by Moliere. Cannery, a feisty, older gentleman, has decided that he is going to marry a cute, young hairstylist named Doreen. Cannery spends the afternoon before his wedding trying to get the advice of friends and neighbors as to whether this is a good idea. He is finally convinced not to go ahead with it, but Doreen's family has other ideas. Doreen (in disguise as a pirate) challenges him to a duel and thus convinces him to marry his “sister.” The day ends in a wedding and…Cannery settles down to a life of misery as a cuckold.

As You Like It, by William Shakespeare. Orlando meets Rosalind at wrestling match, then both are banished to the forest by an angry duke. She goes in disguise as a boy (to avoid danger) and they meet up again, but this time as boys. In that disguise she teaches him how to be a better potential husband to her female self. Orlando’s angry brother, Oliver, finds love in the forest in the person of Rosalind’s cousin, Celia. And the peevish shepherdess, Phoebe, finds out that true love was right in front of her all the time. The evil duke is converted out of his banishing mania and there is a huge quadruple wedding and everyone can go home!

The Roaring Girl, by Thomas Middleton. Young lovers are thwarted from getting married by a tyrannical father who threatens to cut his son off from all inheritance if he marries a penniless girl. In steps Moll Cutpurse, a swashbuckling protector of the weak and friend to the helpless - and a girl in pants! Shocking! She and the son, Sebastian, pretend that THEY are getting married instead and, given the alternative, the father finally consents to option #1.
